Reflections
When faced with a hurdle, test or a difficulty in life, you try to tackle it by giving your best shot. Coming out a winner on the other side is what everybody wants, but what if u can't get the anticipated results?
The test that you crammed for day and night endlessly, but failed to score on?
That opportunity that you thought of, as a step toward achieving your dream job, just vanished in thin air?
That career promotion you worked for, ended up in some body's lap, who wasn't worthy of it by your perspective?
Worldly competition diverts you,
Until you visit the graves
(Surah Takathur, Chapter 102)
We all like to line our ducks in a row, but things don't & won't go our way. We might find ourselves reflecting upon, if its meant for you,you will get it, and then accepting that which is not.
At different times in our life, the definition of success can vary. In your school days it was just scoring good grades, getting your favourite toys, your teens was, probably figuring out the changes and trying to cope up wit it.
After attending college, there was this whole list of boxes to check, of discovering yourself and thinking out loud, voicing your opinions, success measured as what and how high I aim and succeed in a career, and If and when I failed to do so, the weightage of how and whys, the doubts, the over thinking, the anger.
By time,
Surely man is in loss,
Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
(Surah Asr, Chapter 103)
Questioning why does Allah gives us a way to head toward a path, that we might come to think of as destiny and at times going in directions that seemingly makes the road travelled, a complete waste.
But isn't that unfair, if we only think of that when only life despairs us and people disappoint us? Do u ever find yourself questioning Allah’s decision, on the contrary, when you receive good news and fortune when and where you least expected it from?
If Allah should aid you, no one can overcome you; but if He should forsake you, who is there that can aid you after Him? And upon Allah let the believers rely.’ (Surah al-Imran verse 160).
What we have to keep reminding ourselves is that Allah is the supreme creator and the best decision maker .Just imagine the love that mothers have for their children and multiple it times 100, that is how much He loves you.
What we choose to do in the face of a disappointment is to choose between staying stagnant & not accepting, lashing out in ways on decisions and circumstances beyond our control or we could choose to move on, which too is not always easy, getting over a disappointment is not immediate, it takes time, but worth it.
“If Allah knows [any] good in your hearts, He will give you [something] better than what was taken from you, and He will forgive you. Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Surah Al-Anfal verse 70)
