Travel Diaries - part 1

Hey you guys! I realize it has been a long time since my last post, but Im back with stuff which you will hopefully enjoy, fingers crossed!
I have been planning a family trip to the colder areas of Pakistan ( I did'nt say northern because these areas are not actually strictly only in Pakistan) for quite a few years but unfortunately it was always something or the other & the plans always ended up cancelling. But finally, this Ramzan ,May 2018, after long planning, we decided on a 10 day trip to Kashmir & few other areas . Now 10 days don't sound a lot, but you will actually get to know  how much we actually experienced in that time period.I will break this travel diaries post in a few parts, starting from prep, which will be helpful for you to decide on what and how to pack, packing lightly somewhat, and tell you all the fun and useful tid-bits incase you plan these locations for your next trip.

So starting from Clothes. The temperatures were obviously lower than Karachi,  but then this summer Karachi's temperatures went as high as above 40C.
Think of Karachi's almost non-existent winters while choosing clothes to pack. A pair of sweaters/ cardigan/hoodie/shawl per person is sufficient enough.
Jeans is always a good idea for colder temperatures & you can mix and match it, so thats another benefit.

Footwear : Get good sturdy, comfortable shoes, and if you are getting a pair of new ones, take a few days to break them in, you don't want those sores/burns from new shoes!
Socks- 4,5 pairs
Food- Now this is something of prime importance so read to this really carefully. Every egion has their own set of food and their ways of cooking and taste differs, you might not agree with the taste and since there are hardly alot of options available, it is better to get your own prepackaged food. It is very easily available from supermarkets in tin cans or packaged pouches, and you just have to reheat them and voila, the taste of home is here.
P.s I missed Biryani during these 10 days because, lets be honest, KARACHITIES MAKE THE MEANEST BIRYANI OF 'EM ALL, LIKE NOBODYS BUSINESS!

Snacks- If your a  munchies fan, chips & biscuits etc, keep a few family packs in your bag, but please don't go overboard, you can actually find these snacks all over the place wherever you go.

If you are a conscious, hygienic person, and I mean it in a very matter of fact way,and not in a sarcastic way, put your toilietries- toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo in a seperate case for easy access rather than rifling through your whole stuff when the need be. Also, don't forget the mini/hand towels!

You can get inflatable pillows, and fleece blankets are a nice option.

Pack a first aid box with
 Painkillers
Bandaids
Polyfax (ointment)
Muscle relaxents
Disinfectant
