First Lady ( Susan Elizabeth Phillips)- A book review
Susan Elizabeth Phillips has become one of my favourite authors since some last 6 months or so. She is a rom com author and her story plots are all twisty, but in a good way. You might be having a belly clenching laugh and experiencing a serious turns of events just a few pages later. If this sounds like the kind of stuff you might enjoy reading, you should probably read the review.
The book im reviewing today is First Lady (Wynette Texas 4), It is a standalone novel, published in 2000.
The first lady of United States is facing the trauma of the assasination of her husband, president of US, but she is still not free from the white house duties. Cornelia Case is tired of following orders from her father since she was a a kid and being groomed for this future, her dad being the current vice president. She is carrying secrets and burdens of her own and wants to be alone atleast for a while,to experience the ordinary life but how is that possible with the ever present army of secret service agents always trailing her?
Mat Rojik founds himself in a tricky situation, his career as a journalist is almost in dumps, he has by default found himself caretaker of a smart mouthed teenager and an infant, who are not his kids, to either take them or the other option is foster home. Being raised in a household with 7 sisters and a mother who worked herself to the bone, and Mat had enough of being a pushover for helpless females, what would happen to Lucy and baby Butt? The red tape of proving that he is not the father despite his name on their birth certificate, getting DNA tested, he decides to drop the kids to their last living relative, their grandma. A good dose of crazy drama begins when he takes pity on a pretty hitchiker, Nealy, with her uncanny resemblance to a certain political figure, and she joins them on the roadtrip. He offers her a ride in return for her care of the baby and teenager.
What happens when chemistry sparks and secrets are revelaed from both sides? Mat comes to know a story of a lifetime, what does he decides for himself and how will that affect this little makeshift family.
